It’s been almost a month now since the iPad and it’s associated accessories were unveiled. With just over a month before you can actually get your hands on this fantastic new product, the third party accessories suppliers have been having a field day with all of the new cases and screen protectors that they are getting ready to launch.
We have already seen that the official Apple protective case sports an innovative design that allows you to position your iPad differently depending what you are doing. Now, there are a number of other cases that seek to offer unique features.
With the portability of the iPad, the initial case designs that we are seeing seem to focus on the fact that people will be using their new gadget on the go. A lot of mini-messenger bag style cases are being unveiled. These iPad cases allow you to easily carry your iPad around slung over your shoulder, and access it when ever you want to check your email or do some work.
Griffin are hot off the mark with a passport style case that allows you to read your iPad like a book and has a number of internal pockets. There is also the Elan sleeve that is a pocket style case, and then there are grip cases that give you something more substantial to hold on to rather than the slippery sides of the iPad. It certainly seems that simple slip cases are going to be popular, or at least one of the widely available case designs initially.
There are also a number of iPad screen protectors starting to become available. Apple don’t produce any screen protectors of their own, so this is sure to be a requirement filled totally by third party companies. Griffin have a screen care kit for the iPad which includes a static protector film and cleaning cloth.
As the iPad isn’t in use by consumers yet it is difficult for manufacturers to get a picture of how they will use the product, and the cases they require. To this effect, they are estimating based on the best ipod cases, iPhones and other tablet PC usage, but really the iPad is a new product, and will create a new consumer base with new user habits.
